Phoenixpelt padded through the camp, wondering what to do. They didn't really need anything; she hadn't been asked to do anything. What was there to do when there wasn't? It was like a trick question. She couldn't think of anything she would or could do. Besides eat and sleep, that is.
Maybe she should go and hunt. The fresh-kill pile seemed pretty high though... Oh well. One more piece or so would always be helpful. She waited for a cat to appear so she could ask if they wanted to go hunting. But until then, all she could do was wait, and wait, and continue to wait in silence.

The lithe white she cat really did have better things she could be doing. Like pulling thorns out of apprentice’s pads, trying to figure out whom to try various combinations of herbs on the dangerously sick cats, trying to figure out if anything would help them, or maybe even gathering herbs. But, the truth was, Twopaw was sick of doing all of that. The warriors always wanted more, more, and more, never satisfied with what she had already done, not even giving her a word of praise for it anymore. Her mentor was who knows where, and quite frankly, the medicine cat apprentice thought she was going to explode if she had to deal with one more whiny, obnoxious warrior or apprentice needing something without a brief moment of peace to calm her frayed nerves. If only the gathering would start, Clopar had to give them the cure, at the last Medicine Cat meeting everyone had said that their clan had collected rogues, all that they were waiting on was the stupid moon to change! If only it didn’t take so long for it to become full. She was so tired of the sickness; it was dragging her down not only physically, but emotionally as well. What she wouldn’t give for an escape, even if it was only for a little while.
Sighing, Twopaw padded out of the Medicine Cat den, ears pressed flat against her head, shrunk down, almost as if to say ‘don’t look at me, you can’t see me, I’m not here. Don’t ask anything from me, please!’ And it seemed to be working; the warriors that glanced over at her didn’t even so much as blink, rather, they turned back to whatever they had been last doing. Breathing a sigh of relief, the young white she cat’s two colored gaze flickered over to the fresh kill pile; it was awfully full for this time of season. Of course, the whole world was plotting against her, wasn’t it? Grinding her teeth, Twopaw felt her claws sink into the earth. Her normally kind nature was absent today, she was long overworked mostly because her mentor was always doing who knew what who knows where, leaving the small cat to fend for herself, as well as all the warriors and whoever else needed some sort of help. And there were always the ones who wouldn’t shut up about something that was wrong, the ones she wanted to, and sometimes even had fantasies of, bashing her paw over their heads, just to get them to be quiet for a few moments.
Oh but wait, it seemed as though there was someone willing to go hunting, if looking longingly at the gate meant she wanted to hunt, it could just be idle wishing on Twopaw’s part. Ears swiveling forward, Twopaw stared at the warrior for a moment, trying to remember who she was. Suddenly, like a great idea, it came to her. Phoenixpelt, one of the new warriors of DuskClan, a cat she had yet to have much contact with. Fascinating, Twopaw thought to herself, head tilting to the side slightly as she watched the new cat, eyes gleaming in the light. Maybe she would go ask the other cat if she wished to go hunting; it would never hurt to ask, would it? Padding up to the other cat, Twopaw didn’t wish to make her jump, and spoke from a few feet away. ”Hello Phoenixpelt.” Giving a polite dip of her head, the she-cat’s gaze flickered up to the older cat’s, a question in their depths. ”Would you like to go hunting with me? I need the escape.” With a sheepish grin, Twopaw shook her head faintly, as though she was ashamed to admit the fact she needed to escape, if only for a moment.

Phoenixpelt jumped inadvertently; somone had responded to she had been thinking. Or had she been saying it... She didn't know which, only knew that she wanted out of the camp, to feel like she was useful. Hunting was the only way she could think of at the moment. Then again, anything was better than nothing.
She turned to see who was talking to her. She only vaguely heard, until the multicolored eyes sparked her interest. Twopaw! The Medicine Cat Apprentice? And hunting? Well, I'm not sure if she knows how... Phoenixpelt smiled and nodded. "Not to be rude or anything, but do you know how to hunt?" She quickly added, "I can teach you if you don't. I mean, it's not hard, you just have to..." She trailed off, realizing she had been babbling. She laughed, realizing how retarded she had just sounded. "Nevermind I asked; yes, let's go hunting. I'm so bored and I need to escape too..." She started to pad toward the entrance.
"So... Why do you need to get away?" She asked, knowing that it wasn't everyday a young apprentice -- a medicine cat apprentice, note -- asked to hunt. Something really must be bothering her, or maybe there's just too much going on with her? Maybe she just wanted fresh air, and the chance to get away and not be nagged by the older cats to do stuff her mentor should be doing instead?
Whatever the reason, she was sure it was going to be interesting. Why else would a cat want to out in the snow and cold. Only for a possible hare or crow or such. No, a crow wouldn't be out right now. No sort of bird would. She snapped back to reality when she tripped over a root. Looking quickly at Twopaw to see if she had seen, she quickly let out a small laugh at her stumble. "It happens to the best of us," she teased herself.
