Blood.
Gashes.
Death.
That was all that remained of the regal tomcat. Warheart was killed in his sleep, unable to awaken from his own son's poison. The black tom made the peaceful walk to StarClan, his eyes letting out rivers of torment and tears.
"StarClan. You cannot be serious...I...I can't...My daughter is down there! She...Renegade took her!"
He growled fiercly at the first cat he saw.
"You are supposed to watch over the clan cats. You sent me to save them once. So why am I not worthy of protection? Could you be so cold as to kill not only my body, but my heart with the sacrifice of my daughter?"
Cavesong lowered her head.
"Warheart there was nothing we could do. Please understand this. Destroyedfaith lost our protection when she let her name consume her heart. Fate has decided her story. Hope is not lost."
She smiled at him, but Warheart only circled in anticipation.
"That's what you always say. And then something bad happens. Don't let me die, Cavesong. I belong down there, to stop my son, to end his brutality I gave him."
Another sob came from behind, but it was not Warhearts.
"No. I gave it to him, my love. Send me back, for I was the one who ruined our son, and Destroyedfaith."
Blackriver choked on her words, sinking to the floor in the weight of everything.
Warheart smiled gently upon seeing his mate.
"You're as beautiful as ever, Blackriver."
He ignored her statement, as Cavesong spoke again.
"Warheart, you will come with us to StarClan. There isn't anything you can do."
A third voice echoed.
"There is an alternative, Cavesong."
She turned her head.
"What do you speak of, Winterpelt?"
The white she-cat glimmered.
"Reincarnation. Acekit, Shadeflower, and Lightkit have it. Why not Warheart?"
Cavesong hesitated.
"Not everyone can be reincarnated Winterpelt...Especially someone like Warheart who already lived enough of his life."
At this Warheart snarled.
"Not enough to save my daughter."
Cavesong shot back at him.
"We all have blood on our paws Warheart."
Warheart looked challengingly at them.
"Let me go back. I have the right to change my daughters name, and I alone. As must I take back the life I helped to give my demon of a son."
Cavesong bowed her head. Winterpelt nodded.
"Then you will be reincarnated, as your daughters son. Is that your wish?"
Warheart was shocked.
"Who?"
Winterpelt looked at him evenly.
"Destroyedfaith and Foreshadow."
Warheart held back his words. This was the best he could do...
"Then I will go."
The black tom faded away, watching with a twinge of sadness as Blackriver disappeared with StarClan.
