Honeytail was shaking visibly as she lowered herself by the river. She had been here before, of course, but never for this purpose. Taking a deep, uneven breath, she took a lap of cold water and instantly fell asleep.
The process of receiving nine lives is a terrifying, painful one. By the time Honeytail woke again, every inch of her body hurt and her eyes were wide with wonder and amazement. She struggled to her paws, almost losing her balance. As shocking and unpleasant as it had been, everything had gone well- Honeystar had received the nine lives of a leader.
She wanted to take a while to rest and hunt, but she knew she must quickly return to the Clan- her Clan- to appoint a new deputy. She had left for MoonCave that morning, but it was nearly sunset already. Taking another deep breath, feeling anxiety and excitement course through her body, she set off for home.
