:: Okay, what I ACTUALLY wanted to name the thread was this: "When they look into this glassy river, they see the holy stars they worship, and they are given strength. When I look into this glassy river, what shall I see? The fires of demonic hell, where I shall be dragged when I die?" But of course, that is much much much too long. So..Yah. ::
Dyllusi's pawsteps echoed through the empty and silent cavern. She was told of this place: That when you entered, you could hear whisperings, voices that gurgled along with the stream. That when the good cats looked into the river, they saw their deceased love ones, the holy stars that they worshipped, and they were given strength, power, and insight.
Dyllusi doubted she would see this same thing. She recalled a night when she had prayed, the night she killed Blade. Tonight, she sat before the stream and prayed again.
I spoke to you once before. The spirits that inhabit this holy place. I told you, in the only words I could find, that I should need ask no repentence to enter your kingdom. I asked you to see the world as I see it: A place where we all fight for our own reasons, our own selfish reasons. I begged you to see me not as an evil one, but as a cat.. In the same ways that any other of the most righteous clan leaders are cats, that the most sacred of healers are cats, that the most evil of tyrants are cats. I explained to you that we all fight for a common cause: Our survival, and our pleasure. Whether we find pleasure in the happiness of others or in the misery, we all fight to make ourselves happy. I do this too. You should not judge us by this trait.
And so I appear before you again, and I ask all of this to you again. I ask that you see the world as I have seen it.
Well, I am here now. I stand in the threshold of your kingdom, I stand nearest to the veil between your world and mine than I have ever stood before. I will look through the veil, and allow you to show me what you will. Be good to me, spirits, whatever higher beings you are. As I am good to you.
Dyllusi sat in silence for a few moments. She stepped forward, to the stream, and lay down with the water brushing her chin. The water calmed her, it's rythmic message winding through her cold fur..
Eyes glittered from the walls of the cavern, as though the ghosts of starclan were watching her in that cave. Her eyes flitted across the cave; She did not raise her head from the water. Her sight was blurred and darkened with shadows, and she could not see the forms of these ghostly spirits properly. She could feel heat pulsing within her, like a fire burned in her heart, boiling her blood. Her skin burned, everything around her stung. Still, she was motionless. The cats of StarClan simply watched her with wide eyes. Where the water touched her chin it burned as though it was on fire.
Finally, Dyllusi raised her head, and it was all gone. The spirits, the burning sensation, the shadows that clogged her vision. She closed her eyes gently. "So be it, so called StarClan. I am not wanted among your people." Quietly, the feline queen slipped out of the cavern into the cold, starry night.
