Prairiedust slipped into camp for around the tenth time today. She had been going in and out all day, hunting, patrolling borders, and whatever else came around. It was a lot more dull then it sounded though. Even a fight would be welcomed at this point. Although she may not be able to do much in a situation like that because she was finally starting to get tired. She flicked her ears slightly irritated but since she was only feline it's not like she could go on forever. The gold she-cat settled down with a small mouse since she hadn't eaten yet today and finished it faster then she had expected. Here she thought her appetite had been small and she was finishing mice so fast.
Now she was left alone with her thoughts. Which wasn't always a good thing for Prairiedust. What with her strange sense of humor that popped up every once in a while. She thought about the recent rogues in Pewterclan, the Cicuit board cats, but most of all she thought about the kits around the camp. Also about what it would be like if she had her own. But alas, like half the other feminine felines she was alone. Then again, there were quite a few cats with mates. Maybe there were less the half without them? She was now confusing herself and she now literally thought about nothing. Okay, she thought about air. But to her, that was nothing.
She lifted her head up slightly her eyes flickering around camp. There really wasn't much that needed done that she could help with. So, here she sat. Bored.
((Hm... Bit of a random start. XD For Darkridge of course. ^^))

An absolutely, profoundly annoyed groan sounded from the bushes.
"Fox dung!"
A loud spit, an enraged growl as Darkridge leaped into camp, his fur fluffed out on all ends. A single squirrel raced in front of him, jumping around rapidly and trying to get into the trees.
"This is what I get for hunting so close to camp, isn't it?"
He turned his exasperated blue eyes to Prairiedust, continuing to glare in irritation as the squirrel climbed up one last tree and out of sight.
"Who killed you?"
He said, raising one cat-like eyebrow. She looked absolutely dead on her feet. Honeystar mess up on who was patrolling?

Prairiedust shrugged. "No one. I'm doing fine. You?" She asked. It had been a bit amusing when he had run after the squirrel like that. A bit random. Still, random was good on a day that seemed to be a little boring. Okay, very much boring for the she-cat. Why not make conversation?
"But I suppose hunting around camp does have it's downsides."

Darkridge sighed.
"Believe me, it does. I can't think of anything that's worse than your prey speeding away from you into camp and taunting you the moment you go to the den for rest. This happened the other day...Wonder if it's the same squirrel?"
The tom shook himself, letting the dirt that he had accumulated on his hunt fly off like a miny dust storm. With a fragment of a smile hidden behind his expression, he sat down to socialize after grabbing a smaller vole from the pile. Sinking his teeth into his meal, Darkridge proceeded to look at Prairedust and wonder how she managed to sit calmly while a giant squirrel taunted them in the tree above.

Prairiedust wasn't really paying attention to the squirrel. Since it really couldn't stay there forever. It was quite stupid to be sitting up there when a cat could climb the tree and get it down. Now that he mentioned the taunting squirrel she glanced up at the thing having the strong urge to stick her tongue out at it.
"That's a possibility. Was the other squirrel abnormally fat?" She asked a slight smile at this thought. "I just don't know how a squirrel can get that much food." She commented.

Darkridge groaned, sinking his claws in and out of the soil.
"Maybe it gets so much because as it can escape well, it has no fear of predators. Just wait until I sick the apprentices at it. They'll have it in no time."
Meanwhile, said squirrel had raced down the tree, jumped on Prairiedust's head, and sped back up the tree with what sounded like a demented chuckle.
"That's it! I've had it!"
Darkridge launched himself into the tree, looking in disbelief as the squirrel jumped away tree by tree. A trained MapleClan warrior, he could handle it. Springing after it, the squirrel suddenly darted down, and the warrior followed, falling from the tree with an exaggerated 'Umphf'.
If a cat had looked, they'd have though Darkridge dropped on his head as a kit.

Prairiedust shook her head as the squirrel left it. She growled about the squirrel and it's death wish. She watched for a moment as Darkridge jumped from tree to tree then practically fell. Before laughing or even snorting with slight laughter, because it was funny and any ordinary cat would laugh, she padded over to stand beside him.
"So, first apprentice to catch the squirrel gets off den and tick duty?" She said tilting her head slightly. "Also, you okay? Kinda had a rough landing?" Prairiedust added the question.

Darkridge sighed, rolling his blue eyes.
"Yeah, that's for sure. And I'm alright. Not the first time I've fallen out of a tree."
He stood up, annoyance flashing on his face as he shook his near-black pelt. The single white scar above his eye stood prominent in the sun light that cascaded over his shoulder, a great waterfall of light. The tom ignored the squirrel now, launching itself further and further away.

"Heh, had to make sure you didn't break anything. I hear it's quite painful." Prairiedust replied sitting down for now. She watched him curiously for a moment before glancing away.
"Well, at least we know that the prey is running." She said sincerely not really being sarcastic but she had a slight smile that was gone after a moment.

Traditionally, Darkridge did not ask questions. Especially ones that seemed to pry into the life and ways of another cat. However at this designated time he could not help but to ask a question of the young warrior, one he would not normally have dared to ask.
"Do you usually do that?"
Prepared for the she-cat to be confused, he continued to talk with a curious expression he didn't wear entirely too often.
"I mean, do you usually take back your happiness? I saw that smile. why did you take it back?"

Prairiedust blinked. Yes at first she had been confused. Now that he explained it, it wasn't as hard to answer.
"Because I..." Hm, maybe not as easy as she thought. So she shrugged. "I thought perhaps since you did not catch the prey you may take offense to me laughing about it." She said unsure if she had worded it right. So for a moment she had confused herself now, although she managed to keep the confusion from showing to much.
((Hm... So am I playing a mate for him well? XD Her personality has changed SO much. When she was a kit she was jumpy and hyper, also pretty confident. Now she's calm and a bit unsure of herself. XD))

((Yes. She is great. )) Darkridge stared at her momentarily, allowing the explaination to sink in. He paused, his mouth open, before speaking. "Oh, not to worry Prairedust, I confess I am not used to being laughed at. It would do wonders for my soul to be mocked in kindness, I assure you." The tom admitted sheepishly, for not being clanborn, and being constently the leader of his crazy sister and the darker, more sinister of his family, it was abnormal for any sign of equality to be shown between he and any other cat, therefore he made his point.

"Okay..." Prairiedust replied shrugging slightly before smiling slightly. Then she was curious.
"Does that have anything to do with you not being clan born?" She asked not thinking it was rude. Neither her or her mother were clan born. So she didn't really think of it being rude or prying. Then again she hadn't really been mocked for once being a loner. But she had only been a young kit when she had come to the clan. So perhaps it was easier for cats to see her as a clan cat. She didn't know. It was just a theory that she didn't voice.
((Yay! XD))
