HoneyStar stepped out of her den, disturbing a fern on the way out which, in turn, dripped a few sparkling drops of dew onto her pelt as she brushed past. She stretched, yawned, gauged the time of day, and shook the wetness from her multi-colored fur. Today would be a good day for a border patrol. Or maybe a hunting patrol? No, today is deffinately a border patrol day... She stepped over to the warriors' den, where one of the senior warriors was helping to organize patrols. "I'll go with the dawn patrol," She meowed. The warrior paused for a moment, then continued ordering the patrols. A few minutes later, HoneyStar was sitting with a group of five other cats who made up the border patrol. "So we're working the CrescentClan side," ((Anyone?))

A yawn, and it seemed Mountainbrook had finally decided to awaken. She suddenly rolled out of her nest, silver fur spiking out at odd angles. What the-? She had to do something?! Oh. Riiiiight. Stupid border patrols... With a shrug, she let all of those thoughts roll off slim shoulders. After all, she had to teach Waterpaw to respect the patrols without complaint. It was part of the essence of being a warrior, to protect the clan from potential threats before they arose. This was what she'd pass on to her apprentice today...Now only one more need.
"Honeystar, I'd like to request Waterpaw come along with us. May I wake her?"
She dipped her stripped head to the leader, smiling thoughtfully. She was greatful in many ways to have an apprentice. It'd been awhile since she had, and it was a grand idea indeed. Waterpaw was an unusual case, having just joined from the rogues, but it was just as rewarding. Teaching the young cats was part of her job. Too bad cats didn't fill out resumes'.

"Of course." HoneyStar reflected the smile back at MountainBrook. "I'd like to see how her training is coming along. Please call out SeekingPaw as well. And grab another warrior while you're at it." HoneyStar did a quick run-over of her pelt while she waited for the warrior to return. After all, you cant run around on a border patrol with ferns and feathers in your fur and expect to look fierce...

Mountainbrook dipped her head in a nod, and briskly walked off to find them, eyes intent on the task. She had woken up well this time, not remaining asleep on her feet as long a period of time as usual. She walked into the apprentice den, mewing once as she prodded Waterpaw and Seekingpaw.
"Alright you two, sleep time ends in three...two...ONE! Now come on with your bad selves. Border patrol!"
She bent down with a smirk and whispered into Waterpaw's ear with a smile.
"And you, make me look good mmkay? Can't have Honeystar see you go insane on us now can we? Besides Talonfang's coming along. You act out and he'll chomp your little tail right back to the den."
She joked, rushing to wake the warrior she'd just mentioned. She poked Talonfang awake with an abnormally large smile for so early in the morning. What can be said? She's a morning cat.
"Alrighty Talonfang, patrol? You've got to say yes, I promised Waterpaw you'd eat her for me. Can't break those cannible promises, you of all cats know that." She winked, rolling her eyes and padding back out of the den, with a final regrettful look at her nest.

A white she-cat shook her pelt lightly, shaking off the dew that speckled it and walked out of the warriors' den, her front left leg, as usual, stiff from being awkwardly tucked under her belly. After the last fight Mapleclan had had with the rogues when Shatterfall had hurt her leg, it had never quite recovered. It would always be a gnarled sight, half twisted and bent partway down.
She was the one who had organized the patrol. The senior warrior nodded to Honeystar's request and smiled at her leader cheerfully. " I would take Eclipsingpaw, but I trained till late last night and I'm letting her sleep." she explained her apprentice's absence lightly, shrugging a shoulder.

Headstrong wouldn't cover what the young apprentice was. As soon as she had heard her name, and Mountainbrok's loud entrance, a blue grey apprentice stumbled out of the den, bright blue eyes blinking away the sleep. If there was a patrol, or anything, the young fiery she cat always wanted to be on it, to be out of camp as long as possible. Giving herself a good shake, the young Eclipsingpaw managed to walk up to the group of cats, tail flicking slightly as she dipped her head to everyone.
"No, no. I'll go. I'm just fine." Stifiling a yawn, but looking more awake then before, Eclipsingpaw looked around for the other apprentices, and felt a smug satisfaction as she saw that she was the only one out right now. For the moment, she was calm. Later on though, when she was fully awake, the apprentice would be the ball of fire that she usually was.
For now though, it was best to enjoy the peace.

"We cant be overworking our cats, especailly not now that there is threat from the Circuit Cats and other hostile clans." HoneyStar told ShatterFall. "Besides, there are plenty of apprentices on duty now. EclipsingPaw should sleep if she needs it." As MountainBrook, WaterPaw, SeekingPaw, and TalonFang approached, HoneyStar turned to lead the way out of camp, her sun-colored tail held high in the air to signal that, of course, she was leading the patrol.

Talonfang nodded to Mountainbrook, amusement clear on his face. Amongst the clan, he was relatively popular, especially with the younger cats. Maybe who his father was might've had something to do with it. Wolfpelt had been an incredibly nice tom, well known and respected, mentor to the old leader, Maplefur, even with him being rogue born. Not to mention being the brother of the infamous rogue Hawktalon. The warrior trotted after the rest of the group, tail-tip twitching. As soon as he caught up to Mountainbrook, he slowed his pace to match hers. "I dunno. Apprentices are a little stringy. Not as yummy as she-warriors." The silvery black tom kept a straight face for a moment, before flashing Mountainbrook a crooked grin, chuckling.

Mountainbrook chuckled, winking a bit and slinking off after Honeystar. Her feet never were much for sitting around at home. She'd rather be out on an adventure or something, but it seemed those days were over. The she-cat looked towards the Rogue Canyon briefly, ignoring it again as she continued. she'd had good adventures there, but MapleClan was home. She'd not leave it.
"Well, than I guess you'll pay off my promises later when she's warrior'ed."
Mountainbrook joked, flicking her tail and trotting in her usual step. She glanced at him, rolling her eyes.
"And for StarClan's sake, /I'm/ not edible. I'd be much too quick to catch anyways!"
((Dead muse.))

"And for StarClan's sake, /I'm/ not edible. I'd be much too quick to catch anyways!"
The tom let out a mrrow of laughter, returning Mountainbrook's glance. He raised a brow, somewhat of a challenge in his glowing amber eyes. "Yeah? Somehow, I am still unconvinced." If they hadn't been in the presence of both Honeystar, and apprentices, perhaps having a race wouldn't be the most mature thing ever. But Talonfang was up for it. He genrally didn't turn down a challenge. He'd followed the she-cat's gaze towards the Canyons and he tilted his head slightly. The warrior had been there before...more times than he'd admit to have been to anyone, but mostly to visit his uncle and a few cousins. Rogue or not, they were still kin. And family had to stick together...right? But anyhow, Talonfang hadn't been back there since Hawktalon had been killed by none other than Pyre. The little traitor had actually been smart enough to catch the old tom by surprise. He fought dirtier than any of his blood would think to be reasonably honourable. The warrior himself's fighting tactics were a little influenced by his rogue heritage, despite the fact that he'd been born and raised in Mapleclan all his life. But sometimes a little extra tutoring from other sources could be useful...

Mountainbrook purred with laughter, mock-glaring at him with one eye and not the other. What could be said? She was a strange cat. Thinking as he was about the rogues, Mountainbrook wondered why Nimbleflash- correction, Speedpaw, had been allowed back to the clan. He was, after all, one of the cats who'd killed those dearest to her. Even walking into the apprentice den after Waterpaw was hard enough, knowing her sisters murderer was sleeping vulnerably less than a fox length away.
"I suppose once we get back to camp, I'll convince you. And even if you're one of those who runs in trees, be forewarned. Though I'm not the best at it, I won't fall behind."

HoneyStar was padding just ahead of the pair of warriors with the two apprentices. Though she tried not to, she kept hearing scraps of the flirty conversation. Ah, young love. Flicking her ears to tune them out, she mewed, "WaterPaw, SeekingPaw, what do you smell?" She'd decided to assess their skills. Since both were warrior-age cats(i think), but new to the clan, they could be warrior'd as soon as their skills were good enough.

Shatterfall briefly glanced at her apprentice and tilted her head for her to come along as well. If Eclipsingpaw was up for it she could come surely. She didn't think it could be that bad, and anyways, she had been just as determined when she was an apprentice. If Eclipsingpaw got worn out, she would learn a lesson the hard way, if not, well, she'd be warn out by the training. The she-cat told herself sternly to give her the afternoon off, though. The warrior did have standards. One of these was, surprisingly, 'Apprentices shall not be worked to death'...or something like that; maybe a few exceptions here and there- maybe not. Looking towards the rest of the patrol, which had gotten ahead she called, "Eclipsingpaw's going to come, too." Flicking her tail for her apprentice to follow, she caught up with the group as fast as she could with her uneven gait. She peeked back at the young bluish she-cat, rolling her eyes in amusement at how headstrong she was.

Talonfang grinned, ears twitching. The she-warrior was very amusing. Some cats weren't quite quick enough to joke back with the silvery black tom. Not to mention they didn't always have the competitive drive to go up against a warrior of his ability. Talonfang just wasn't as predictable as an average clanborn tom should be. "I'm Hawktalon's nephew. I'm very stealthy and quick. Like a ninja." And at that, he dropped into a hunting crouch, and as if on cue, the undergrowth rustled the very slightest bit, and the dark furred warrior's paw shot out, scooping a vole into the air. In one fluid movement, he batted in down as it fell, breaking its neck. When he was an apprentice, he'd climbed trees, trying to perfect the art of owl hunting. He hadn't done that in a while, but he was itching to try. Picking up his kill delicately, he raised a brow at Mountainbrook. "Hungry?" He mewed around the vole. They were on border patrol, so anything they caught didn't have to be taken back to camp, and considering this was the first patrol of the day, Talonfang hadn't spent time to eat first, heading out to patrol right away.
((Sorry. Low on muse right now...))
