The day was just turning to light, the soft colors of dawn just making their way into the sky. For the moment, there was no sound other then the soft whisper of grass as a gentle breeze moved along it. Peace seemed to just burst to life from the area, choking those who didn't know about the magical time right before the sunrise. So few were active, and if you ever met one who was, it was like you were the only two cats left in the whole world. You could search for more, but there never were. It was as if at this time, you entered a different world, a world where only a select few had permission to enter it, and only a select few had permission to live through it. The softness of which everything was at this hour, it could be enough to drive a lesser cat insane. After all the noise of regular life, this quietness would just about kill them at first. For one tom though, it was different. He had never broken the silence here, other then the squeaking to his friends of the shadows. He never had a reason to, because as always, the silver tom was alone in this hour, just like in the hours to come.
After what had happened to him though, being alone no longer bothered the silver tom. He was called Yuki, and even in the light mist that had settled over the land, you could tell that in the right light, his pelt silver pelt could take your breath away. His eyes were mesmerizing, and he had a generally friendly feeling coming out of this core, but also, wariness. Yuki didn't approach anyone anymore. Sooner or later, they always found out about his talent, and the looks that they gave him after that, it wasn't great. He had always been a little less social then everyone, even as a kit. He had always felt out casted for no reason, not seeing the way everyone watched him over his brothers and sisters. Yuki always had a blind eye to those sorts of things, not seeing the obvious. It was a bad habit really, but Yuki was rather..enclosed, with his own problems in this world. His soft, yet heavier set steps made the only sounds really, as he walked through the grass, not really listening to anything the rats were saying. Usually, being alone didn't bother him. But today, today he just felt, empty.
Maybe it had something to do with the fact he had socialized today, for a little while. It had been rather odd really, but he had felt better then he had in moons with only the rats for company. He had never had the need to socialize before, so why was this happening now? Why? What was going on, what happened to his peaceful life of a loner? All these questions rang through his head, tormenting him with answers he couldn't find yet. Some part of him knew, but that part wasn't big enough to tell him what was happening. Rather, it was going to let the outside do it for him.

((I'm absolutely positive that my post will be bad compared to yours, but I'll try XD.))
A pale brown she-cat stood near a small tree, blending in easily with the scenery. She also watched the dawn, with her dark, dull (as she was told by others) eyes. Truth be told, she hadn't yet noticed the silver tom before, though now she saw him. Not that she cared whether there was another cat around here. The way his pelt was shining in the dawn, almost glowing, reflecting the weak light of the morning, had caught her off guard. Again, what did she care that this tom was here? She didn't. Had she approached, and spoken with him, he probably would have found her strange. She found herself twitching slightly, uncomfortable with how perfect everything was seeming to look. She squeezed her eyes shut, and unsheathed her claws, scratching at the ground, trying to make the ground imperfect. She opened her eyes, keeping her brown orbs looking in the direction of the lines she'd formed on the ground. She breathed a quiet sig of relief. Ugh, she was pathetic. Fearing perfection like this was stupid, but she couldn't help it. Machi sighed quietly to herself.
((Eh, I guess it was okay... Not as good as yours. XDDD))

((Hehe. Sorry. xD))
It was the soft sigh that alerted Yuki to another presence in the realm of dawn. At first, he froze, having not expected anyone to be awake during these times. Everyone was usually always fast asleep in their warm nests, missing whatever was out there. On a second look, the silver tom made out the figure. Her dark and light pelt camofluaged herself with the tree which she stood by, which was the reason Yuki hadn't seen her when he had walked by just moments before. It wasn't his fault that he had missed her, the silver tom knew, but it felt as though he should have seen her. He should have been more aware of his surroundings, and should have known that the she cat was there. It seems he had failed, just like before. Why was he always a faliure to nearly everything he did? He had been told that so many times before as a kit, that every time he missed something, everytime he messed up on even the smallest possible thing, that went through his head, telling him what he had always been told by his 'family.' Maybe thats why he never could have any friends.
Yet, there was something different about this cat. Just from observing her, Yuki could tell. How she seemed to fight the perfection around her, trying to be different. It was intresting, to say the least. Turning to one of his friends, Yuki let off a few squeaks, asking simply who that cat was. The rats though, had no clue. It was the first time that they hadn't ever seen a cat before, and it caused only more intrest from Yuki's part. Who could escape the rats, when they were everywhere? All those questions, and so many more seemed to enter Yuki's mind. Never before had he been so intrested in a cat, ever. He was relucant to approach her though, she would probably think of him as odd, at least, once she learned what he could do, that is. A cat that can speak to rats, yet isn't in the Circuit board? How odd! And creepy. At least, that is what Yuki found himself always reading across thier faces as they stared at him, after figuring out what he was. Wasn't everyone like that so great? To judge someone because of what they could do, not because of who they were?
With all these questions burning in his mind though, Yuki felt there was no way to cool them unless he approached her. Taking a deep breath,, he moved forward, towards the tree where the she cat was sitting, just telling himself to take it one pawstep at a time. Fate must have been rushing him though, because he was there quicker then he thought he would be. Still keeping a respectful distance away, he dipped his head softly. "Hello." He mewed, voice quiet, as though he was afraid to break the sacred silence of this place. "I am Yuki." With his pelt glowing in the light, and his eyes seemingly to be like fire as you gazed into them, Yuki was obviously something different then most of the cats you would meet here, in this meadow of loners.

Machi jumped and looked up from the clawmarks on the ground. Out of instinct, she let out a startled hiss, and she bristled for a moment, before relaxing again. Her ears twitched out of slight embarrassment. "Ah... um... sorry... Yuki. Machi," she introduced herself, speaking slowly, and in a monotone, as she usually did. Surely the tom found her odd, and only spoke to the lonely-looking she-cat out of pity. Right?
(('Tis BAD! *hiss* xP))

((Yes, yes it was. xD))
The hissing didn't even seem to effect the silver tom Yuki. His pelt remained flat, not bristled like the she cat in front of him. He had always been a calm cat. Only a few things actually enduced his temper, and even those were rare. "Pleasure to meet you Machi." The silver tom mewed, and then was lost for conversation. Yuki had never really been one for conversation, and now it was coming back to bite him. Might as well make with the greetings, right? After all, what else could he saud? Hi, I speak to rats, and you looked intresting to me. What is your problem, and why are you in this place, whne I've never seen anyone else? Yeah, that would go over really well. "You seem to be...burdened by something." The silver tom offered, trying to start up a conversation with Machi. She was making it rather difficult.
((Its like a germ! xD =stabs horrid post=)).

Machi's whiskers twitched a bit. This cat, Yuki, seemed to be good at paying attention to his surroundings. Then again, it might have been obvious that she was troubled. She wrapped her tail around her paws to protect them from the chill of a breeze that just began to invade the peaceful meadow. "No, no..." she replied. "I'm fine..." It wasn't a smooth lie, but it was also neither convincing or unconvincing, with her monotone.

It seemed she was trying to convince him something that he knew wasn't true. In fact, this she cat seemed to want to convince him that she was just fine, when it was obvious she wasn't. It sort of amused Yuki, in a strange way. He didn't chuckle slightly though, he had good manners, even for a loner. Eyes narrowing, he shook his head at her, obviously not thinking what she had said was true.
"No, your not."
He mweed softly, ears flicking back as he heard the rats squeaking about this new cat. They followed him most of the time, but like now, they were hidden in the shadows. They may be rodents, but they weren't stupid animals. They knew how to mostly stay alive.

Machi sniffed the air quietly. Rats. She didn't make any comment on the smell of the animals that were obviously very nearby, though. Instead, the brown-and-cream pelted cat shook her head, and looked away from Yuki. "Mm, why does it matter anyway?" The she-cat asked him. Why did this tom care? Then again, he did seem to have a lonely air about him. Maybe he was troubled as well?

As always, Yuki was the calm one. So little riled him up, after all the moons of being alone. It had taught him a great deal of tolerance with anything that happened to be annoying, or maybe just touched with hostility. His light colored eyes wandered over the fields before him, before Machi spoke one more. Her question suprised him slightly, although he wouldn't say he hadn't expected it. What would a tom who was obviously alone want with her? So many darker images flickered into his mind, and he had to force himself not to flinch. He really shouldn't be answering his own questions. His imagination was too colorful for that.
"Curiousity, I guess." He stated with a shrug, before feeling as though that answe wasn't enough to fill the gap that had appeared before he had spoken.
"Of course, it might as well be the fact you are the only cat I have ever met in this hour. I feel as though we are somehow alike."
He said softly, eyes flickering to meet hers. He could only hope that he had got the feeling only to himself. What he would give, to have at least one cat, that could understand him and actually accept him for who he was, not what he could do. One could always dream.

Curiosity still hadn't made sense to her. Of course, one might be curious to see another out so early. Her sleeping patterns varied. Before, she'd never bothered to go anywhere when she got up. But something had drawn her out today. She was hungry, and she'd never hunted in this particular area, which had piqued her curiosity, considering how, well, beautiful it was this particular morning, how the sky was painted with pinks and blues, like a pale sunset. It had almost been too perfect, too... in order. But there were clouds dotting here and there, obscuring some of the 'perfection,' which had made it better.
Machi shrugged. She honestly didn't see the point to being curious about her. Besides, how could she possibly be like this tom? He seemed so... interesting, despite the loneliness that seemed to settle about him. She was boring. Plain. Not good enough.
"I don't think we're the same," Machi disagreed quietly, flatly. "We are probably different, in several ways that could never allow us to be similar."
She examined his sleek, shiny silver pelt, and then her own plain brown and cream fur. She gave a quick lick to her cream chest fur, not sure why. Self-consciousness? No.

The sky above them was like a canvas, full of reds and pinks, and just breathtaking. Even the talking, the slight disruption of the stillness, didn't seem to effect the scene all too much. It was during this one time, that Yuki felt as though he honestly could be himself, without a worry about what others would think. Now, it was only the usual caution that held him back from telling her what he actually was, that caution that seemed to be forever ingrained into his very being. It was like a rock wall that you would never climb to the top, a way of life that was something that would never change. Sad, maybe. However, was there really any way that he could change? Yuki didn't think so. There was nobody that seemed to understand him. He was alone in this world, forever fated to walk the earth on his own. Or so he thought.
"Good point. I highly doubt you have the similarity that makes everyone avoid me once they know." He said stiffly. This she cat Machi's attitude was starting to get to him, and for once, he felt a tinge of emotion. His sleek pelt was flat, not a fur out of place. He never did anything to it, it always seemed to be that way. He was never sure why. What he did know though, was that it was time for her to see exactly what he was. He could see that look in her eyes. It was hard to explain exactly what it was, but how obvious it was, when you know what to look for. Yuki had always seen it, but for some odd reason, it made him a bit upset today. It as as if he felt that he should be scorned, not praised in such a quiet way.
Eyes blazing with pure fire, he turned, and said softly. "In fact, we are different in a way that can never be the same. I speak to rats." He knew she wouldn't think he was telling the truth, they all thought he was pulling their chain, so he demonstrated. Turning to the shadows, where his friends hid, he let out a low squeak. A few answered, and he replied. Within moments, rats were swarming him, a few climbing onto his shoulders to sit on his head, with obviously no fear. It was a site to behold. There was one short squeak from Yuki, and quite suddenly, they were all gone. As if they had never been there in the first place...
"Yes, that was real."
Was the only comment Yuki offered, eyes hardened as he waited for Machi's reaction.
