Fierce auburn orbs gleamed in the semi-darkness as Crackett made his way deeper and deeper into the caverns. The young golden brown tom was feeling much more confident now that they were underground again. He'd lived pretty much his whole entire kit-hood hidden away from the sun's glare after all. He knew his way well enough, having used many of the secluded peepholes and tiny tunnels when he was younger. If one were to only glance at the young tom's gaze, they would not have guessed that they belong to a cat of his small stature, and age. They glowed constantly with cognizance.
As he continued down in the canyons, an interesting scent reached him. It would seem if there was some kind of large area, a cavern? And their was a faint scent that was similiar to what he'd been looking for. Crackett paused, checking behind him to see if Sludge was still close by. "I think I'm onto something." He mewed, jaws open to scent the air, ears swivelling. He was excited, really. It seemed like there was yet somewhere that he'd never discovered before.
The golden-brown tom lightened his pawsteps and followed the scent, and continuing down an almost unseen entrance. It was somewhat dusty, as if it hadn't been used as much lately. Tail-tip twitching, he padded forwards carefully, but confidently.
((Sorry. Kinda brain dead from the summerschool work load today. I'll try harder...><))

The prince followed the young tom into the darkness; putting his full confidence into a cat he had just met. It seemed foolish, but it was necessary to discover what had become of Leaffrost. Sludge wondered if this indeed could be a trap. He hadn't thought of the situation that way, and had no escape tactic pre-calculated. Even if he did, it would be difficult to escape from The older tom could detect that Crackett knew what he was doing, this made him a bit less tense.
The toms clouded green eyes examined the new passageway in the dim lighting. He, too, had never discovered or was knowledgeable of the secret tunnel, "What do you think it could lead to?" Sludge responded as he padded through the cobwebbed mouth of the cavern. His eyes had a bit of difficulty adjusting themselves to the new expansion of darkness that now surrounded he and his companion. There was a dripping noise coming from some river or stream that was concealed from the fresh air above. The sunless passage seemed ominous, yet it was inviting them in deeper and deeper underground.

"I don't know..." Crackett took a moment for his eyes to adjust to the change in lighting. Normally he would be more jumpy, entering somewhere strange, but he felt secure, with a strong tom like Sludge accopanying him. Jaw wide, he was able to pick out the scent of water of some kind, also, a stale smell as well. He wrinkled his nose, resisting the urge to sneeze from the dust in the cavern. After a while, something flashed deeper down the passage they travelled and the tom's ears perked up and he picked up his pace, heading towards the source. He didn't know what it was, and he wanted to find out. If it was hostile...well, they'd just have to try and find their way out of trouble. Just as the tunnel widened, something caught Crackett's eyes and he whipped towards it, bristling. What was that? Another cat? Sure enough there was yet another pair of auburn eyes just like his own gleaming in the dark cavern.

"Well look at this."
There was a laugh that came from the corner of the cavern. It wasn't a menacing laugh, though, but rather one of warmth, maybe kindness, yet still keeping a mysterious edge. The voice sounded female, and soon there was yet another pair of eyes. These, though, were Grey and ringed with black. As she padded silently closer, there revealed a toned calico she-cat. She was a little small, yet there was some type of light that flowed from her soul that made her seem taller and more magnificent.
"You obviously don't know where you are. Your eyes will adjust shortly, then I suppose I'll have to lead you out again. Did you cross the river?"
She looked around the cavern in a homely way. The mirrored walls might have been intimidating once, but no more. This was her den; her home. To anyone else, though? This had been a torture chamber, according to Silentmelody. This was also the final resting place of Facade and Masquerade. The family had buried Masquerade by Facade when he had been killed. Mystique tried to forget that night, though. They had lost more than just one family member. Her kit Secret had also mysteriously disappeared that night, and the mother would always mourn for her. To get lost in this part of the labyrinth was certain death for the inexperienced. It was quite lucky that Crackett and Sludge had arrived here. For all she knew they could have taken the wrong tunnel. There were three tunnels after your crossed the labyrinth, and if you picked the wrong one then you could end up wandering in circles forever. With the exception of her son, Valeshadow. He was skilled in navigation and acted like a bird who can always find their way back home. No matter where he was, how deep he was, he could always find his way back to the Mirrored Cavern. It never failed to baffle her.
"I'm Mystique, by the way. Valeshadow's mother."

Crackett almost jumped at the sudden voice that joined them in the cavern, and his head turned towards its source, ears pressed tightly against the back of his head. In a quick glance, the tom registered much about the newcomer, even in the dim environnment. And besdies, his eyes were adjusting already, even as the calico she-cat spoke. She was not exceptionally big for a full grown cat, a bit bigger than Crackett himself, but small compared to Sludge. She had a motherly air about her, which was somewhat soothing, but what attracted the golden-brown cat's attention was her black ringed gray eyes. Gray eyes weren't very common, even though violet orbs were far more rare, marking them, telling the world who their kinsmen were. Physically, Crackett was rather different looking from his parents and relatives, except for the small slender but toned physique that he and a few shared. The only thing that was indentical to his father was the intensity of his gaze and of course the natural intelligence that seemed to be present in all of the cats who shared his blood. "Did you cross the river?" Crackett looked at the she-cat, and nodded. Many times he'd made his way towards the river to play and explore, but he'd never strayed too far across the river. His father had warned him not to, if he didn't wish to die insane. He hadn't understood what he meant, but now glancing at the numerous duplications of the trio in the reflected surfaces, some distorted, he realised what Hawktalon had meant. So this was were the rumoured Cavern of Mirrors was. And it wasn't a rumour after all. "My name is Crackett. And this," the tom paused, glancing at his companion, not sure if he wanted to be known by his true name or not, "is my companion. Pleasure to meet you, m'lady." He generally didn't use formalities, but it seemed to be wise to use them now. For one, she was the rogue leader's mother, and secondly, it might be a tad bit more difficult for them to get out of the labyrinth without her help.

((Oh wow; they are odd. Hehe. I like it. I don't have plans to go anywhere, I'll probably always be around here at least. Thank you Breeze! )) They were not as alone as the two outsiders may have thought. Although one could not see who was lurking around quite yet, his sudden presence was known as the mystery tom entered the area. Usually one would be able to see the tom with a sudden clarity, but at this moment, those strange eyes were narrowed in an effort to keep himself concealed until it was deemed fit to show these outsiders who he was. Before he would do that though, he was going to inspect these two strange toms, these, surface dwellers. Very few knew of the laybrith that was under the feet of cats who walked in the surface; much less the Mirrored Cavern, where the two that had started the violet eyes rested, a sacred place known only to a few, those who had either been born into the family, or their loyalty was something that could be trusted without a fault. With his pelt, black like his brother's, aside from the white dots on Valeshadow's pelt, one could easily mistake this strange tom, if they didn't see his eyes, as Valeshadow, ruler of the underground. That conclusion though, was wrong, for although they appeared the same pelt wise, there were things that had always kept the two apart. Like the fact Darknesshallow, or Darkness by friends and family, had never been seen on the surface in too many moons to count. In fact, all his family he knew, thought him to either be dead or insane, after it seeming as he had walked off the earth, seen by not a soul as the moons flew by.
Darkness was back though, as he finally stepped out of the shadows that Uniscornbane's foolish leadership had cast, along with Renegade's mindless, foolish plot. Now that there was finally one once more that was deserving of the rank, it was time to let them know that Darknesshallow was back in action. Where had he been all these moons, one may ask? It wasn't so much as a fact he had gotten lost, rather, he had ventured in one of the unused tunnels, and made a few wrong turns. Like Valeshadow, he explored the land with ease, although he tended to get lost a bit more then the new leader. Nobody could explain why Valeshadow never got lost, while so many were driven to insanity as they walked the tunnels, not knowingly just going in circles. At times, it was actually great fun to just watch them from a hidden spot, calling out in haunting tones, just to watch the reactions from the lost ones. It was a true shame that more didn't find the tunnel entrance these days. Oh well though, maybe it was better that way. Few, if any outside of the tunnel rogues, knew of the new leader, and it was destined to stay that way until something big happened.
Now though, that it seemed the one called Crackett and his companion were down here, he might as well meet them. It was time to shock the world, and show that one thought for dead really wasn't as dead as they thought him to be. "Crackett and companion." Darkness's voice rang out, as he opened his eyes, revealing exactly where he was as he walked forward to them. They would no doubt stare at his eyes; everyone did. Ringed grey and violet, odd things had occured with the tom, and his eyes cast out light from the grey, while the distinct purple rings were as dark as everyone else's eyes around here. Like a laturn, he projected light, making any path seem to be less dark, more walkable. A valuable thing, but also one that had marked him as well. He would never be able to make himself someone he was not, branded for life.
"Hello as well Mystique." Darkness dipped his head to his mother respectfully, before turning back toward the two toms. "Darknesshallow."
Obviously, he hadn't spoke to anyone in many moons, as all he offered was a name, nothing else. Or maybe he was just keeping to himself, they would have to judge...

"Well, hello Crackett and Compan-" she was cut short as she heard someone enter. She tilted her head and sniffed the air. Then, a big smile filled her face and she whirled around to face Darknesshallow just as the tom opened his brilliant eyes. She kept her smile as she dipped her head in greeting to her son and spoke, "Darkness, it has been awhile. But where is Hooded? I thought she traveled with you...No difference. It is still a joy to see you." Mystique trailed off, her eyes darting around to see if her other daughter was lurking in the corners. Her lip twitched a little in defeat. Her children were usually away from home, constantly traveling the deepest realms of the maze. They perhaps knew it better than anyone alive or dead- maybe more so than even Masquerade. She turned back toward Sludge and Crackett and back to Darkness. "Crackett, this is Darknesshallow, Darkness, Crackett. Crackett's companion, Darknesshallow. Darkness, Companion." she gave an apraising smile to all of them, as if they'd just aced a math test and now got gold stars.
((Hawkie, you could probably let Hooded come in an introduce herself, too. Family reunion! We'll just say that Silentmelody and Silhouette (played by Masquerade) are the ones who usually patrol and are rarely home.))

A snort sounded in the cavern, rather near the the group. It wasn't long before a black head popped out just around the corner or a hall of mirrors, belong to another she-cat. "Who would want to travel with a lump of fur like him, anyways?" Hooded trotted towards the rest, head and tail high, just as they always were. She'd always been one to for entrances, and really didn't mind the attention that her vibrant violet eyes brought her either. She was more than capable of making the stealthy, sudden appearances that her brothers seemed to enjoy so much, but it just didn't seem as much fun. What was the point of showing up if no one noticed anyways?
Hooded was just bit more visible than the others in the dark cavern, her entire body, save for her legs, head and tail-tip, white. But she managed to pull off the whole 'hiding' thing that they'd done before Valeshadow had stepped forwards to claim the rogue throne.
Purring softly, the sleek she-cat padded towards her mother, and brushed cheeks affectionately, before stepping back again, and turning her violet gaze onto Crackett and his friend. Hooded eyed them, Sludge in particular somewhat critically, tail lashing. "Ever heard of personal hygiene?" The older of the toms was a bit scruffy looking, and didn't look as though he groomed his pelt often enough. The younger one was a little better, though still not good enough. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Crackett nodded, eyes following Darknesshallow closely. He looked just like Valeshadow, except for the eyes. If the tom had closed his eyes, he probably would've mistaken him for the rogue leader. It didn't seem that either the mother or the son was all that hostile, so Crackett wasn't worried. However, as soon as another voice, sharp and commanding, and most certainly female sounded, it was obvious that this cat was probably not going to be as welcoming as the others. Furthermore, she actually insulted both him and Sludge!
Jaw tightening in annoyance, the golden-brown tom attempted to glance at the new black and white cat without glaring at her, all the while, trying to talk to Mystique as well. "Is this your home?" He'd never scented her scent around before, let alone have seen her walking in the canyons. And once Crackett saw or scented something, it wasn't likely for him to forget.
((Tee. Hooded has always amused me.))
