In the relaxing suburbs of the village, early at morning, a van lay parked in the driveway of a quaint cookie-cutter twoleg nest. The back of the car was popped up, and in the hatch laid several pieces of luggage. This family was going on vacation, apparently, and one of the humans would come out occasionally to add bits to the collection they were bringing along.
Now, in the shrubbery, a white head was peering out just slightly, watching the person's movement. Sliding back into the bush, Jackpot turned to face he two cats behind him, his adopted brothers. Reala, snowy white decorated with red and black, sat on his haunches with his arms extended, accepting articles of clothing from the black Jackle.
"This isn't fair."
Jackle hissed, his usually manic, toothy grin turned upside in a rather frightening frown as he unhooked the cloak from his shoulders.
"My cards said I'd win that bet. One of you must have cheated!"
"Now now, Jackle, you put too much faith in your Tarot deck. In the end it really is all about luck."
Reala's laugh was airy, green eyes flickering quickly to meet Jackpot's. Sure they had slipped a few aces into their hands, but how was Jackle to know that?
"Besides, Jackie, you really are the best one for this. Why, with your powers that human won't see what steals from him. Heehee, now go get something fast, that guy just went back into the house."
Jackle grumble, but padded to the edge of the hedge, ears back as the human pattered back into the building. As the door snapped shut, Jackle's fur seemed to disappearing, blending in and making him perfectly invisible save for his large blue eyes and fang-filled grin. He leapt out of hiding, dashed across the yard, and hauled himself into the back of the van. Though to anybody who observed this, it just looked like a face was bouncing around the lawn.
Jackle's invisible paws flicked open the locks on the suitcase, which sprang open, lid smacking him square in the jaw. He let out a surprised shriek and stumbled backwards, giving a burning stare to the offending suitcase.
"DANG IT, JACKLE, THAT GUY'S COMING BACK! GRAB SOMETHING AND GO!"
"Oh yeah."
Jackle snatched up a pair of undergarments, the closest thing there was, just as the door to the nest swung open again with a shouting twoleg in its mouth. Jackle's disguise failed immediately, making him a relatively obvious black cat again, as the human came rushing up. Very quickly, he bounced out of the car, away from the snatching hands of the twoleg, and streaked straight back to the hiding place, pants clenched tightly in his teeth and a mad cackle coming from his throat.
"Run, run, as fast as you can! You can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man!"
"Jeez, Jackle! He's following you! RUN!"
Jackpot and Reala exploded from the hedges, hauling tail alongside Jackle, they shrieking and Jackle cackling like a mad dog as usual.
It had taken a while for the human to give up the chase, but now all three of the brothers sat perched on their favorite stack of crates in an alley. Jackpot was shredding the stolen garment into squares of fabric for whatever reason, Reala noisily chewed clumps of grass out of his claws, and Jackle was now restored with his crazy orange get-up with a deck of cards laid out in front of him.
"Heeheehee, that human sure was persistent. Sure was a good work-out, eh?"
He drew a card, examined it, and placed it over the card with the image of the owl, and flipped over the image of the old woman.
*Omnom nom* “Apparently they don't like their stuff being taken.” *Omnom nom*
"Hey, lookie, my cards say we'll meet someone we haven't seen in a while."
"Humph, who cares what those stupid cards say? It's not like you're ever right."
Reala had the bulk of the deck thrown at his face.
"Fifty-two pickup, bro!"

Don't ask how Jackle can go invisible. Just roll with it.))
