The tom wasn't massive as in size, with a sleek golden pelt that reached all the way up to his neck before giving away to a pointed, black face with endless eyes, but it was the way he carried himself, just the general way that he was presented, that drove others to be wary of him. Not to mention that when he turned his gaze upon someone, it felt as though he was looking into their very being. With a look of wisdom, it seemed as though Anubis should have been an elder, although it was obvious that he was no where near that age. At least, on the outside. Internally, well, everyone was slightly insane. Raising his gaze to the sun, which was somewhat covered in the clouds, a soft sigh came from the tom. Today, he smelled of blood. Not just recent blood either; old blood was mixed in with his scent as well. Very few dared to approach him, and the one that he knew would because, well just because, hadn't been around very much. In fact, thinking back, ever since they had made this move here, he had not seen his only friend at all. Just heard whispers about her from the occasional cat who had been unaware that he had been there.
Not a mistake they would make again. Loyal to a fault, yet only those who proved themselves could make it in the inner circle. Lip revealing teeth that were stained red a bit, fresher from the look at it. He hadn't had the easiest day; but when was any day easy with his job? Giving a soft, bitter laugh, the otherwise silent tom just shook his head, as though his thoughts amused him. Glancing around once more before shrugging, the sleek tom picked up what he had been holding, making sure to grasp it by the straps over the cloth. Yes, today had been fun, but it did not come without its own version of rewards. Grinning, this smile though was nothing that could be shown to kits, something that would create nightmares honestly, Anubis raised his head, looking at nothing, and yet, you got the feeling, everything. "Your around here somewhere, I can feel it." The song sang out clearly, but being the direction lacking cat that he was, there was no way to actually pinpoint where it was coming from.
Best to wait anyway. Looking in the general direction he thought the other to be in, Anubis suddenly tossed his bundle that way, knowing it would be caught even if he had been totally off. It had happened before. And yet, somehow, he had never managed to get lost. Interesting.

((Um... Title-wise... 'Happy Valentines Day'? XD
Anubis is pure awesome. And I love the ingenuity of your post <3 Whereas Ammut may be fun to draw, but a pain in the tail to write );< ))
Thick paws dug into the earth as something large shimmied through the brush, sloppily leaving deep furrows in the delicate soil. Branches of hedge clung to thick pads of fur they had wrenched, leaving ample evidence for anyone who would even want to find the owner, who though seemingly elusive sure left plenty of tracks to follow. She hunched under the bush leaves, tangled mass of her body creating perfect camouflage to hide in the dark area from any except who knew where to look. Like him; Anubis, who was watched by bright, blank eyes. A sigh escaped her nostrils, and slitted eyes fell to the bag by his paw; Blood! There was blood! He brought blood! The golden tom spoke, turned towards her, tossed the bundle he held towards the hiding place, and out of the brush leapt the curious thing that snapped it up in broken, twisted jaws and slammed it to the ground. Ammut's twisted green head snuffled into the bag, her golden front end crouched while her sickly purple hind legs stamped at the ground and striped tail wagged high in the air like a dog's. Her appearance was mismatched, badly proportioned, and crooked to un-catlike heights with her mind matched. The polar opposite to Anubis, she was loud, dense, and dangerous with rows of snaggleteeth, thick claws, and the want to rob a cat of their heart in both mindset and physical fashion. Her heavy paw clamped on the sachet, and her head slithered back out, face stained black and a grin stretched wide at her gift which was pinched in her front fangs; A ruby-colored sweet-smelling lump of another cat’s heart. Her jaws parted to toss the heart, quickly snapping it back up again with a rip of the fibers. Her sharp teeth weren’t equipped to tear like a normal cat’s was, so she had to settle with tossing it, crunching, tossing, and letting gravity move the thick meal to the back of the throat to finish in one satisfying gulp. The cannibalistic Ammut sighed and drew her short tongue over her teeth, attention slowly being drawn to Anubis. Slowly the devourer approached him, touching her nose to his front paws while a rumbling growl came from mane-covered throat. Ammut didn’t need to have words to tell him his gift was appreciated. He always found the best ones, after all. And with all the elapsed time of her being away doing her own errands it was nice to be back in his company.

((Haha. Or maybe 'This Heart is For You.' xD I really was spacing title-wise. <3 Danke schon. And I can only imagine. I don't know if I'd ever really be able to role-play her too well, your post is pretty good. I just need an Anubis - like reply. =thinks=))
So maybe his sense of direction wasn't too far off, after all. Watching as the unusual looking feline devoured what he had gotten for her, a rare grin, one that lacked the usual tinge of bitterness he carried around, flickered onto his features, dancing there for only a moment. Very few could even stand to be in the presence of Ammut, in fear that she would eat them, at least, thats what he could come up with. Circuits were the best for accepting differences, thats really what they were, although her different, and wrongly proportioned body, could be another reason they somewhat left her be. Fear was good though, fear was power. The whole reason he kept himself, well maybe not the whole reason, so shrouded in mystery was because of that fear. They just can not understand, and what they can not understand, they fear. Is devouring a cat, or simply a heart, any different from the prey they eat? They saw it as being something unworthy though, something evil and dark. Not a resource that could be turned toward your advantage in a fight, or if you had an enemy.
"Glad you enjoyed it. Got it from today's work. Nast piece, you would have enjoyed it." A faint chuckle flickered forth from Anubis as he shook his head. It was not wise to say thank you to him, as he had been teaching a few others, because the general feeling with that was in which the other was in debt to you, and unless the words were spoken properly, there was no limit as to how long one could hold the other. Minions were a lot of fun to have around, even if they tended to whine a bit too much for his personal taste. He had a job to fill though, and no matter what it threw at him, there were very few, if any, that could do it. Cleaning up the mess two of the Circuits had made had been interesting though. Nothing left for Ammut, actually, there was nothing left at all. Nothing but disconnected spirits, or souls as he called them, looking for a release.
Wincing at the sudden pain, although the slight flinch wasn't visible to anyone without the sharpest eyes, it seemed as though his day wasn't done yet, no matter what he thought. He couldn't ignore the sendings as the legends foretold. I'm not strong enough. These need to be found with a way to stop, else it'll kill me some day. Shaking his head, darkness flickering in his unreadable gaze, he turned back to Ammut, this time, a faint grin, one that he knew she would know almost as soon as she saw it, played onto his being. "And it seems as though I am not done yet... Would you care to accompany me this time? It has been long since I have had more then a solo mission."

(( 'Have a Heart' Puns are fun. Oh gawd, this post is gonna be short D: ))
Ammut sunk to her side to begin licking the juices off of her massive forepaws. It may not look like she would be, but the company she was in was fine, and the practice of vanity was kept at least somewhat in the disfigured she-cat. No bodily fluids allowed on the paws after dining. Unlike Anubis Ammut never actually drifted into thought. There was no need for it. Ammut had no business in the Past or Future, and no opinions of others. That was strictly the job of Anubis in their partnership; If he was Judgment she was Consequence. Her short ears twitched and with a jerk of the head looked up, startled by Anubis' flinch. But any surprise was instantly washed away by his smile, and with a bolt to her feet and an enthusiastic nod of the head, Ammut's answer was clear.
