The sky was overcast, creating a dark shadow over the land as a storm grumbled in a rather threatening manner. Many cats whom called the Circuit barn home were down below in the tunnels, hiding from the rain that was coming, easily scented on the occasional gust of wind. Looking up at the largest tree, just a mere foot or so away from the barn, one could make out a shape, one that seemed to be hidden in the shadows themselves, although the sudden flash of a cape showed that it was none other then the self appointed guard of the Circuits, Taegan. It wasn't surprising really, that he was out here. Ever since he had been taught to fight, and how to use what he had been gifted, the tom had been out here, scaring off outsiders he didn't like, which was about everyone, and just generally acting as though nobody belonged here, aside from those who already lived here. It was only if another Circuit came to let in the unlucky feline did they really get pass him, and even then, if they joined, glares were to be expected, as well as something that resembles the cold shoulder.
However cold the dark purple, almost black tom appeared to be though, was melted down by a select few, so they could see what the tom was actually like, when he had been a kit. For, although he had always been hidden in the shadows, he hadn't always been exactly so hostile. It wasn't a hidden fact that he had ventured out as a kit to trade with the ferrets and whomever else he ran into. But maybe he really had gone to young, for after one visit, he had changed. Or maybe if it was the disappearance of his brother, whom he had once played with as much as he had with his sister. Time had distanced Taegan from Ciosce though, and it was rare for him to be seen with his sibling, or around any of the family that is. Who's fault that is though, isn't very clear. Raising up his head, half colored gaze dark as the clouds he stared at, Taegan was exactly as he had always been for so many moons; alone. A chosen choice, and one that was followed through. One couldn't question his loyalty, but they could question his hostility. If they dared.
It seemed like an eternity before the first drop of the storm fell, and then, as though flood gates had been opened, the sky began to pour. Ears flattening with disgust, Taegan forced himself to retreat to the overhang of the barn, still guarding the entrance to the place well. The rain though, had drove him from his spot, and annoyance was written all over the slim tom's features. The red checkered tip of his tail lashed ever so slightly, and for a moment, it almost seemed as though the tom wasn't going to let the rain stop him, and return to his spot. Suddenly, an idea sprang to mind, something that made the tom grin ever so slightly, a grin that was not all to kind. The rain could take him from his spot, but it wouldn't hurt an illusion, now would it? Standing still, Taegan eyed the spot where he had once sprawled upon, picturing himself there, and with a widening of his eyes, all of a sudden, the shadows that had remained where he had once been seemed to gather themselves up... and formed another Taegan, complete with dark expression, and all his little items he wore.
Sitting back, Taegan studied his little project you could say, with a grin on his features. He had a lot of power, and needless to say, was good at what he did. Right ear flicking to reveal two studs, Taegan pulled his cloak closer, and settled down, watching and waiting, knowing that someone could come from anywhere.
He just didn't know who would venture out here, when everyone knew that he would be out here, and knew of his temperament. At least, they knew of what he chose to show them...
