Horror over what he had seen raced through the tom's mind. He was somewhat shaky, but that wasn't noticable, but the way he was paled, even for his own pelt color, was obvious. His silvery eyes were set with determination, although those images kept flashing behind his skull, threatning to break open his mind. Ears flattened, he leaped up to the leader's rock, ignoring the hostile looks. He had a job to do. Looking down upon the other cats, gaze bound and determind, Fangslash spoke quickly, but with an air that told one that he wasn't joking. His tone for once, was sober and grim.
"All of MapleClan, I carry some news that is to be heard before seen. Honeystar is dead, having plummeted to the rocks on the cliffline. Taking with her, Goldstar as well as his deputy. None survived, all are laying scattered on the rocks." Taking a deep breath, Fangslash still ignored the glances. Rather, he sougt out Talonfang, and held the other tom's gaze. "Only, the leader of MapleClan is not who you think. Instead of Shadeflower, the leader of MapleClan is to be Nimbleflash."
Ignoring the stunned gasps, eyes still focusing on Talonfang, Fangslash still spoke, still a touch paler then average. "Only, Goldstar has named not one of his own to lead PewterClan. Rather, he has named Talonfang to lead PewterClan." Nodding his head to all those under him, Fangslash leaped off of the rock, heading for his friend. He had shaken off his pelt, but the faint splatters of blood that had fallen onto his pelt from the fight. There was no way that Talonfang was going to take this well. He would be leaving too much behind.
"The death of Golden Honey, and something big happening to you." He said softly, still agitated, but obviously worried about how Talonfang was going to react.

Mountainbrook looked the most aghast out of anyone, perhaps except for Talonfang. So much coursed her veins at once it was a wonder she was still breathing. First came the shock, as Nimbleflash was absolutely one of her enemies. However he'd grown a bit more tolerable...But Talonfang? Would he...Leave? With her here? It was difficult to decide the more important. Her clan, or her mate? And then she thought of her ties...She couldn't stand him leaving without her.
"If this is the case, I will be leaving with Talonfang, Nimbleflash."
His eyes gleamed with a twinge of anger at her, but he held back as she continued.
"It is not because of you. It is because of my heart, and who I love. My children, though they are not all here, are welcome to come with me."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~
Covepaw stood at the back, eyes widened. Well, paws down, of course she was going with her father! She scarcely meowed a good-bye before she was standing besides Talonfang and her mother. This was an adventure unlike any other.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Nimbleflash had already known what was coming. He'd seen it from his hunt with his own eyes. He nodded at Fangslash curtly, before, feeling still a bit out of sorts, he turned to his clan.
"I will lead MapleClan with everything I have. Doubt me if you will, but only a coward would turn tail before he has learned of the ways of my rule."
His voice was almost challenging, as if daring them to deny him his right. It was strange indeed, but he would not go back on it.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Behind Talonfang, a few cats had rounded up. Among them, Justiceclaw turned, dashing in the direction of his old mentor. He smiled gently. "No matter the clan, I will follow the true leader. Talonstar is where my loyalties lay."

Talonfang was absolutely stunnned. He would've shook his head, yowling and disbelief, but he was Talonfang, and that just wasn't what he did. Instead, the silvery black tom stood solemnly, cognizant amber orbs glowing brightly. He stood tall, head raised, as he seemed to accept the news calmly and evenly, just as he handled everything else. Mapleclan was the clan of his birth, no matter how much he was drawn to the canyons. This was just...too much of a shock. Just as he stood silently, letting the revelation sink in, he caught Fangslash's gaze, and he nodded. He understood "Golden Honey" now. Once again his friend had been eerily correct.
This was very short notice, but in his head, he was already sure of which cats he would take along with him; there was no way he was going to live in a different clan alone, and he was never going to leave his kits and mates behind. They were coming with him, no matter what Nimbleflash was going to say. "I will be leaving for Pewterclan tonight. However, there are a few matters that must be settled, here, and now. My mate, and kits I will take with me, as well as a few trusted friends. Fangslash, Justiceclaw. Eclipsingsun. Any other cats who wish to follow may, as well." Looking at Nimbleflash, his amber eyes met blue ones and he nodded, at his ex-clan mate, and fellow leader. "I wish you and Mapleclan the best of luck in the future." --------------- Scorpionpaw sat, torn. Both toms the apprentice held in high regard, Talonfang for his vast knowledge, but Nimbleflash as well. Both were role models to the young bronze tom. Pewterclan, or Mapleclan? The apprentice looked at Talonfang, then at Nimbleflash, then back at Talonfang, then Nimbleflash. Scorpionpaw shook his head, clearing his thoughts. He could only choose one...

Fangslash's gaze was cold as he looked up at Nimbleflash, wait, it should be Nimblestar now. He didn't trust the tom anymore then Talonfang's mate did. Only, would Talonfang be Talonstar now? That was going to be hard to get used to, he had always known his friend by Talonfang. It would just be something he had to work around though, for even if Talonfang hadn't wanted him to go to PewterClan, he would not have stayed at MapleClan. Not with this little problem. With Honeystar, he had respected her. Nimbleflash was an outsider, one who claimed to be changed, but deep down, probably was the same as he had always been. Turning his gaze from the newly named leader, he looked at Talonfang, offering a faint, somewhat grim smile, before touching his tail tip to the other tom's shoulder in silent support. He was rarely talking when there was a large group of cats, he didn't trust a lot, and only through the shock of what had happened managed to let him speak as he did. Looking over at Mountainbrook, he had just met her moments before the incident, he offered a shrug. He knew how the she cat felt, and it wasn't as though he was hiding his emotions. Looking at Scorpionpaw though, the older warrior moved over to the bronze tom. "Come with us, Scorpionpaw. You'll be out of MapleClan, and away from everyone. Just think of the experiances you'll have."
>><<
I can leave. I'm FREE! Away from the bitter pain I see, as old memories cascade upon me. Wonder lit up the blue grey she cat's face, as she touched noses with Darksun, her father, for the very last time. Everything had happened in a blur, but what she felt the most, was the release of being away from everything. No more family to hold her down, no more memories that lurked at every corner. It made her feel alive again, and she was glad to be so. Rising from where she had been sitting, she went over to stand in the small group that had assembled beside, and around, Talonfang. "Congrats." She meowed to the silvery black tom, her eyes alight with excitment. She would miss her father, but he had Trueforge and a new litter that was going to be around soon. Now, she would have a chance to change who she was. A chance to be someone new, and hopefully not encounter anyone from her family. Especially that strange cat Ballad. Little did she know...

There was long moment of silence and stillness before Scorpionpaw responded, hazels eyes gleaming. "I can't." The bronze tom didn't specify why, but he didn't want to leave his family, as much as he didn't want to admit it. In addition, he would no longer have the upper hand should he go to a new clan...he'd have to learn every rock, crevice and plant all over again. So much time for good pranking would be wasted as well. "I'm sorry, Talonfang."

There was an expression upon Nimbleflash's face that many cats did not see. He glanced down at Scorpionpaw, compassion on his face. He knew what it felt like to be torn between homes...Between places and feelings. It had all happened to him as well, once upon a dark moon. Hadn't ended well of course...
Pouncesparrow...
No one would know how the gray tom had loved, nor how he had lost. So much remained a secret inside of him that sometimes even he wondered if he knew it all. But no, as he looked down upon the young apprentice, his eyes said it all.
It's alright to go. I'd never hope you would choose to leave, but I know what it's like when someone tries to hold you back...And surely, I would have just sliced them open. I'd rather just let you go, personally. I will miss you though...
