Akito hissed slightly in annoyance, but sighed, following after.
"What if I don't accept?" The she-cat snapped back. But, luckily, there wasn't any hostility in the snap. More like, when one friend snaps and another friend.
But she was competative, so she'd probably accept anyway. The young cat was already scenting the air, pretending not to react when she caught the very faint scent of sparrow.

"Too bad." Madurar teased, pouncing on an old, decaying log. It caved in, covering Madurar and his golden pelt in dust, dirt, grass, amd debris. Meanwhile, the high-pitched squeaking rang out like nails across a chalkboard as dozens of mice scattered every which way. Madurar swiped one up with a claw, tossing it lightly ito the air and chopping its head off before it landed in his outstretched paws. He grabbed nother, flicking it a few feet away before pressing his teeth to its windpipe. He buried his prey, and went after the other field mice, knowing he could catch more. Not that he would need it, though. He would leave it outside his territory for wadnering souls to feast on.

Akito inwardly wished she'd gone that way. Oh well. She just wouldn't agree. She ran that same way that Madurar was going, after the dispersed field mice. As the she-cat sprinted past the log, she got a bit of dust stuck to her silky raven-like fur. She slowed when she was sure she'd smelled one really close, and looked around, pinpointing the source of the mouse's smell immediately. She padded quietly, soundlessly through the grass and pounced when close enough, catching the mouse under her paws and cracking its neck in the process. She buried it so it was hidden and went to catch more. Truly, she wasn't that hungry at the moment, despite the fact she'd hardly eaten anything at all the day before.
Akito caught another mouse almost immediately and buried that one too, for now, to hopefully catch more. Okay, so she wasn't the first one to catch a mouse, but maybe catching more than Madurar would count for something.

So after several minutes of a mouse-killing frenzy, Madurar flopped down on the grass. "Okay, how about a draw?" he suggested breathlessly. His sides rose and fell quickly, as he tried to get his breathing and heartbeat under control. He sneezed lously, some of the dust on hsi pelt exploding off him and surrounding him in a yellow-gray cloud. He squinted as he glanced at the horozion, which was just beginning to glow with golden light as the sun rose. "Hopefully it won't be so hot today." he commented, thinking he would get his wish as there were several gray, gloomy clouds hanging aove the rising sun.

Akito had curled back into a ball, beside him. Her tail was neatly wrapped around herself, and she somehow managed to avoid getting smothered in the cloud that had surrounded Madurar for a few seconds. Her fur, which usually appeared black, was hit by the light of the horizon at just the right angle, so her fur was a plum-purple. It was rare, for her fur to look this shade of plum. Usually it was blackish. There was no black in this light, though. The she-cat didn't seem to notice the fact that her fur was brighter in this particular light. She'd managed to catch four or five mice. It was a lucky day. Now she had them in a little pile beside her. She was eating one, though. The young cat hadn't realized how hungry she really was, but managed to keep herself from scarfing down the food.
"Agreed," she mumbled after swallowing a mouthful. She sounded rather tired out herself.

Madurar licked the debris off his fur, choking and sputtering as it clogged his throat and nose. He sneezed violently a few times, and finally his airways were clear again. He shook out his pelt after he had groomed it, and feeling much cleaner, he took a small bite of his mouse. His eyes wandered over to Akito, and he very tentativley licked Akito's fur. He knew sharing tounges was a sign of friendship or affection, especially in the Clans, and he could only hold his breath and wonder how she would handle it.

At the feeling of the tongue against her fur, Akito hunched her shoulers a bit, as if attempting to shrink away for a moment. Her muscles had also tensed. But she managed to convince herself that there was nothing bad about him, as she already knew that. The young she-cat relaxed. "I... I haven't shared tongues with anyone for about nine moons..." she said quietly, attempting at opening up to Madurar. Akito then tried licking Madurar's shoulder. He wasn't messy anymore, but still, he'd done it to her.

Madurar smiled and his muscles relaxed. "My mother did once, when I was born. That was the last time." he said quietly, trying to be careful about the subject. "She didn't want me, so I sort of left her. Ran away and such." he said, laughing lightly. "At least she doesn't come after me, like Ren . . ." he trailed off. That was pretty awful, the whole Ren situation.

"She probably wasn't looking for me. She probably just saw us, and decided to talk," Akito said bitterly. The she-cat glared down at the ground, then her gaze relaxed again. She didn't look up at him, though. "So, since your mother didn't want you, you don't quite know what a mother's love is like either, huh?"

Madurar smiled gently and shook his head. "I've never really known any love." he said sadly, but not regretful. And then, taking a huge risk with his next words, he added "Until now." he gazed eagerly into her bright eyes, his golden ones never leaving her face. He wanted her to know that he meant it, because the words were true.
Then his serious expression broke. "Too cheesy?" he asked timidly, ducking his head a bit.

"Um... yes," Akito breathed. Had the tom really just said what she thought he said? Did he mean it? Or was he joking. She looked off to the side in slight embarrassment. He couldn't mean it. They'd only known each other for less than a day. How could he mean something like that?
"Do you mean it...?"
Part of her hoped he said yes.

Madurar smiled. "Thought so." he muttered to himself. He didn't expect her to doubt his words, but he smiled wider when she did. He gazed deeper into her eyes. "Of course I do, Akito." he whispered, nudging her lightly with his muzzle. "Sure, it's only been a day, but we did lots already. I mean you slept here, didn't you? Not with me of course, but you were in my Den!" he said encouragingly. He looked down finally. "It can be our Den if you want." he said sheepishly, looking up again hopefully.

Akito simply stared at him in shocked silence for a bit. He meant it... but she couldn't be loved. No, no... she didn't want to believe what Ren said, but she hadn't been loved at all since her father died, so how could this be real? Maybe she was still asleep, and she'd dreamt all this.
She buried her face into his neck then and there.
"You're so much like my father..." she was quiet for a small while longer, before continuing.
"I'd love to make this our den, if you promise you won't ever... hurt me." She'd been hurt many times. She guessed that he must have as well, so she felt she may be able to trust him.

Maduar nodded, his eyes wide with the shock that she beleived he could ever hurt her, even if he wanted to. "I promise." he muttered quietly in her ear. He said, adjusting his body to keep her closer. He closed his bright golden eyes and concentrated of the feel of her fur and the warmth coming fom her body. He memorized her scent, a sweet-smelling one, and then opened his eyes again. He stared at her face until it was burned permenantly to his brain, so when his eyes closed he would see her there. But Madurar knew he wouldn't have it any other way.

Lifting her head from his neck, a soft purr rumbled in Akito's throat. "I.. I don't think you'd ever hurt me, but... I just wanted to make sure. This is... almost kind of scary," she admitted, her voice lower than a whisper. "But I like it," she added. She still couldn't believe this was happening, and part of her thought this might be a dream. It had to be. The only person who had loved her was her father, and he was dead. The only emotion she had received for moons was hatred, and in return, hatred was what she dealt out to almost anyone she came across with. And now he was showing her love.
