Azul sat as still as a statue all night. She watched the stars twinkle in the sky, dancing around the moon while other slept peacefully. With her enhanced eyesight, she saw them more clearly than most cats. She stayed awake all night to watch them, and as soon as the stars had begun to dot the sky, they began to vanish. They blinked out, and rays of sunlight peeked cautiously over the horizon. Azul felt the first warmth of day warm her light gray pelt, and she closed her eyes and enjoyed it for a moment. Soon, the sun was shining brightly in the sky, few clouds daring to block it. And still Azul did not move.
When dusk began to fall, the small she-cat rose slowly to her feet and stepped gracefully through the woods, weaving around trees and bushes. Azul knew that most would think wasting a whole day staring at stars and suns was foolish, but Azul felt that she learned something from sitting still for hours on end. As she scented a mouse several yards away, her whole body tensed. She slowly crept on it, as carefully as the sun, and leaped on it quicker than the stars could vanish. With the mouse hanging in her jaws and blood flooding her mouth, she began back to the rock where she watched the days pass by. She wasn't that hungry, but the scent of blood swirling in her nose was very tempting. She sat and stared at her kill, feeling slightly lonely and wihsing she had someone to share the mouse with.
(( She is apprentice-aged, and looking for a mate, sub-counciously. *wink wink* ))

Septimus walked along the line of trees stopping every few moments to sniff the ground. There was supposed to be a type of plant that would help with a potion put a cat to sleep, and all they had to do was sniff it. Weaving in between the trees he was starting to get annoyed with the fact that the plant had no specific scent. It was it's looks and texture. The scent didn't come out till you mixed it with the other plants. But it was needed for the potion anyway. He did catch the scent of a she-cat though.
Lifting his head he looked around and lowered himself into a crouch. Creeping forward he peeked through the brush at the other cat. Tilting his head slightly he padded forward a bit more and jumped out. He wanted to talk to a younger cat. Most the cats he normally is around were moons older. The Circuit Board needed more kits. Or at least more apprentices... "Hi." He greeted staying at the edge of the forest for now.

Azul knew he was there, but she decided to wait until he adressed her. She looked up, and even though he was very average-looking, she couldn't help her heart beating faster and her words catching in her throat. She found herself starnig blindly into his eyes, and felt her pelt flash with embarrasment when she realized she was staring dumbly at him. "H-hi." she finally sputtered, trying to remember her own name. She suddenly snapped back to reality and her eyes shifted down to her prey. "D-do you want this?" she said, nodding to the dead mouse. "I caught if before I realized I wasn't actually hungry." she said, laughing lightly. Azul nudged it towards him, and licked her fur self-counciously. "I'm Azul, by the way." she said, finally remembering her name. "You haven't happened to spot a pink flower, have you? It smells a bit like cat-mint, but with tansy in it. It heals bones and I've been looking for ages." Azul suddenly realized she was rambling on and ducked her head again. Come on, Azul. He's just a cat, stop acting so foolish! she scolded herself. "Sorry." she mumbled after another moment.

Septimus smiled slightly at her. She was a pretty cat now that he was standing nearer to her. "Nah, I'm not really hungry. Maybe someone at the Circuit Board will want it. You do live there, don't you?" He asked thinking he caught the scent of the Circuit Board on her. "And I haven't seen the flower. Have you seen a plant that had hardly any scent, a rough texture, and is dark green?" He asked. "It helps with a sleeping potion. Actually it will finish the potion and I can be done with training for the day. If it works that is. Marcia is always sure to make sure I know it must work. I wonder who she gets to try these things..." The tom added thoughtfully.
"So you a healer?" Septimus asked tilting his head sightly.

Azul nodded. "Yes. I prefer to be out in the open, though, so I don't spend much time in the Underground." she said thoughtfully. "You can't see the sun or the stars if you're not outside." she shrugged. She listened intently, racknig hre brain to think of the plant he described. "I don't believe I have, but if you mix in the faintest drop of deathberry, it works too. However, it must be barley even a taste. Its dangerous, but if you really need it, it works." she said. Then she responded quickly to his last question. "Well, I prefer potion-maker, but yes, I suppose I could be called a healer." she said, her words rushing out excitedly. "I thought I was the only one!" she was glad to have found someone similar to her. Sometimes she felt like the only cat in the Circuit that used plants and berries for a power. Azul smiled widely.

"Yeah, I like Alchemist. My mentor, Marcia, doesn't really care for the work but she can do it. I like it. She's better at the magic like tricks and such." Septimus replied with a slight smile. He liked talking to this she-cat. She was nice, and friendly. The brown and orange tom sat watching her with his sharp green eyes. "Have you ever tried to read the stars? Like the constellations?" He asked curiously. It would be interesting to speak to someone that works in the same way he does. At least with potions and such.

Azul listened quietly, and nodded. "I watch the stars move every single night. I don't sleep often, because I'm watching the sun and stars and the moon move. I have found pictures in the stars, but I'm not sure if their the official constellations." she admitted sheepishly. "Have you heard of what the Clans call StarClan?" she asked after a moment of thought. "They say that their dead ancestors go up to the sky and become stars to watch over them." she explained. "Most think its mouse-dung, but I do see new stars sometimes." she told Septimus. Azul watched him intently with big blue eyes, wondering what he would say. "Would you like to join me tonight?" she asked, flickig her tail and looking over at the setting sun. "Look, the first star!" she said, standing up as tall as she could and looking intently. "Its clear around here, so you have a good veiw." she said, moving aside to share her star-gazing rock with him.

"There are lots of pictures in the stars." Septimus said padding over to join her on the rock. "Yeah, I've heard of Starclan. It's a possibility that it's there. But there is also a Sunclan. Where the cats that don't believe in Starclan go." He answered her question. "And I would love to join you." He said smiling at her. The tom looked up to see a few more stars starting to dot the sky. It was a beautiful site. But he was starting to like Azul more, and he found that she was quite pretty. Ack, where was he getting those thoughts. He lowered his head slightly to hide his look of surprise at himself. Although he was glad that she wasn't a mind reader or something like that. Instead, she was like him. Working on potions and such. That might be what he liked most about her at the moment. That she was like him. "It is nice around here." He commented looking around. "Do you come out here every night?" He asked looking back at her.

Azul smiled. She settled down again, her pelt belnding with the rock. She lay her head on her paws, closing her eyes for a minute, then opening them again. She examined the stars for a long time, then nodded. "Yes. I come out here pretty much every single night. I do go back to the Underground to sleep sometimes." she asid, finally answering Septimus's question. She turned to look at him, her smile fading mysteriously. She gazed at the tom for several minutes, until she didn't see him anymore.
She lay still, the only sign she was alive was the faint rise and fall of her stomach, and the quiet sound of a heartbeat. After a while, she finally said something. She looked back at the stars. "Do you think we'll go to StarClan?" she asked, her voice loud in the silent night.

Septimus watched the stars begin to fill the sky. He could see Orion and one of the dippers. When Azul spoke it surprised him a bit. The sound of a voice filling the silence of the night. "I guess. If we believe in it. Although we're not really in a clan. I don't think we'll go to Sunclan though." He replied thinking it over a bit. That was a harder question then some would think. Still thinking about it he laid down and rolled over to look up at the stars while on his back. "My mentor doesn't seem to like just sitting and watching the stars. She's more of the strict type with her magic and potions." He commented still looking at the stars but glancing at Azul when he could she her outlined in the pale moonlight.

Azul nodded thoughtfully, deciding that seemed like a pretty legitiment answer to a hard question. She rolled over to her side, so that every breath caused the faint rise and fall of her sides. "I guess she can do what she wants." she commented. "But she does maghic too, I guess, so I don't know if I'd be sitting here if I did magic as well." Azul was quiet for a minute. "I guess I'm glad I don't do magic then." she asid as a smiled lit her face.

"I do magic also. And I have time to watch the stars." Septimus commented with a slight smirk. He wondered who had taught Azul to make potions and such. Turning so that he was back on his stomach and looking at her he tilted his head slightly. "Who taught you to use herbs and such for potions?" He asked.

Azul smiled faintly. "I, uh... I learned from my mother, before the dogs got her." the gray-pelted cat began. "She only taught me a few things, but when I didn't have the skills to keep her alive before the dog attack.." her throat grew tighter as she held in tears. "I told myself I would learn everything, so next time I could save a life." she looked away for a second, then looked back at him. "The rest of my knowledge I learned from talking to Loners and Rogues, or just watching other cats. I mostly figure it out myself now." she said quietly, her eyes shining with tears at the thought of her mother.
As soon as her smile had faded, it was back. She turned to look at Septimus. "So..." she said, not sure what to talk about next. In the meantime, she looked him over carefully. Azul's eyes met his forest-green ones, before her eyes travled down his back, over his brown and orange fur, and stopping at the tip of his tail. She lay her head on her paws again. She was never at loss for words like this. Of course, she had never felt like this either. Such a strong attraction to one cat. It was an over-whelming feeling to be in love. Azul wanted to look at the stars, but she liked looking at Septimus more. But she tore her eyes away from him. "How can something so far away be so shockingly beautiful?" she breathed as she looked at the glittering lights in the sky.

"I'm sorry for your loss... I didn't really know my parents. So Marcia, as you would imagine, trained me." Septimus said with a slight laugh. He looked over at her and blinked. His eyes were adjusted to the less light and he could see her better now. The tom looked down as he noticed speaking about her past made her feel sad. Then again, if he had, had a past similar he may have felt the same. But, alas, his past was similar as all the other cats. Didn't know their parents, blah, blah, blah. "I don't know..." He murmured answering her question. Although he had felt like mentioning how she wasn't that far away, but that would be terribly corny. "I wonder what it would be like if it were possible to touch the stars." He commented rolling onto his stomach, still watching the sky, but turning to look back at the she-cat.

Azul sudddenly smiled, feeling his eyes looking at her. She turned and looked at him, moving her small, gray body to face him. Tentatively, she reached across the distance between them, and poked him gently. "I bet it would be bit like that." she whispered, feeling her fur crawl with embarresment when she realized how teribly mushy she sounded.
What in Clopars name are you doing, Azul! she thought inwardly. I can't help it. she finally admitted to herself. I've never felt like this before... its wonderful. Her spine tingled, but in a good way. Her blood seemed to be like a million feathers, rushing through her blood and tickling her veins, and her hert felt like it would leap out of her chest and fly into the moon. Azul knew what the feeling was. Love.
