Yarrow, coltsfoot, goldenrod. Maybe some more poppy seeds if I can find any. I'm so glad that winter is finally over, we were lucky that there was no Green cough, we would have been weakened by the lack of proper herbs. Better collect a lot more this season.
Stepping out of the Medicine Cat Den, the sunlight warming the pure white pelt of the apprentice, a look of eagerness was obvious in her two colored eyes as she called out to her mentor, Cloudedspirit, that she was going to go herb gathering. For the time being, the sickness seemed to be rather docile, only a few cases here and there to fill up the den, providing a brief chance to restock that was needed for the clan. It was good that her mentor had taken on an apprentice so early, the two were really worked to make sure the sickness didn't spread out to the warriors. Not that you would ever find Twopaw complaining about all the work. She loved what she did, and nothing would ever drag her from the path that StarClan had given her. Not getting a mate really wasn't a bad thing to give up, it was worth it every time one saw a healed cat, and got the praise of a simple thank you.
ShadowFire woods were pleasant today, aside from the occasional bog that had to be avoided, it was peaceful, full of prey, and all the herbs that she needed. There was a problem with the quiet however, it left a lot of room to think. There was one issue that was troubling the apprentice, and that was the fact that Frostpaw, her sister, was in what seemed to be a permanent bad mood. Never before had she seen her sister so grouchy, or touchy. There seemed to be nothing Twopaw could do for her either, and that was something that was bothering the apprentice, for she hated seeing a cat she couldn't help, even more so because it was her own sister. Dragonpaw, her brother, was just like his normal self aside from a faint grudge for some reason, but that was normal. Dragonpaw was often at the back of her mind. He was the one apprentice that she knew she would never have to worry about because he loved what he did. There was no way he would ever go against the code. Twopaw knew though, that she couldn't say the same for her sister...
The thick 'pop' of a marsh bubble startled the young cat out of her thoughts, just in time to avoid a large marsh she had been about to walk into. Casting the wet area a dark look, it always took forever to clean out of her long pelt, and this was not one of the days she wanted to spend grooming. She had already found nearly all of the herbs she had been looking for, aside from the Poppy Seeds. The territory was running out too, the place where they could usually be found empty, although the shoots of plants promising that they would be back sometime. Maybe it would be best if she went back now, she was getting a bit too close to the border for her tastes. What seemed to glow over there though, was a bit of exactly what she had been looking for, poppy seeds, just over the border. That wasn't theirs though... But they needed them.. What as she to do? There had to be someone she could turn too for the answer. If she took them, it would be stealing, and maybe that clan needed them too.
Oh the torture of those thoughts! Twopaw had not crossed the border, but the look of longing, of want, was clear in her green and blue eyes as she looked at the herb, claws tearing into the soft soil of Shadowfire woods.
What should she do?
