Her pelt glittered brightly, and she stared, just stared at the river, she knew that once she took a drink, she would not be the same cat that was standing here, there was no looking back. Amber looked over at Maplestar, "Whatever happens," she whispered to her friend, "We'll still be friends...right?" Amber's eyes glittered as she leaned down to the river, ready to take a sip.

"Of course." Maplestar purred and smiled at Amber, her stomach flip-flopping a bit. She was nervous about what would happen after she and her friend took a drink from the river. What would StarClan say? She could almost imagine...
The warrior code applies to all whoever set paw in the Clans! Why should we make an exception for this cat? She decided to leave. She chose her own path! Why should we allow her to return? You can't live with a paw in both worlds!
The MapleClan leader shook her head to clear away the voices. What was she worrying about? Everything was going to go as planned. There was no reason why it shouldn't. Taking a deep breath, she turned to Amber once again and meowed, "Are you ready? Let's go." She bent her head and took a lap of the icy cold water.

Amber nodded and closed her eyes, leaning over and taking a sip. The icy water felt like it was zooming through her whole body, like a bolt of lightning.
When she opened her eyes, it wasn't StarClan, but it wasn't SunClan, which she was also used to. It wasn't the dark side, but...where was it? She looked over, sighing with relief to know that Maplestar was just as confused, but also there. Amber raised her muzzle and sniffed, there was no scent.
Something bright glittered in the distance, and Amber walked slowly towards it, and soon, everything changed, it was a long, beautiful meadow, a river soared through it, and a eagle buzzed before her head. She looked around, and smelled again, there were two scents, both StarClan and SunClan were in the air.
Amber! cried a sweet motherly voice. A ginger tabby cat with ginger eyes ran over to the confused she-cat, she had the scent of Amber's Rouges on her.
MOM! she cried, realizing who it was, roaring out a purr through her heart.

Maplestar looked around in surprise. Where was this place? It sure wasn't the StarClan she was used to. She glanced at Amber, about to ask a question, when the she-cat took off. Scrambling to her paws in haste, Maplestar followed. The sights grew less and less unfamiliar until she saw the sparkling forests of StarClan in the distance. We must be on the border of StarClan and SunClan! she realized with a jolt.
The leader's eyes narrowed as Amber rushed forward to great the cat whom she called 'Mom'. So, Amber's mother was in SunClan? She really must have been a rogue leader. There had been much doubt about this in MapleClan, but now the rumors Maplestar had heard were confirmed. She was about to speak when once again something prevented her from speaking. Cats were running towards the border from the edges of the forest, their pelts shining and sparkling in the light. Immediately Maplestar recognized several of the cats. Dagger, Slash's friend from the rogues, Cottonball, an old loner who had lost his life in the battle, Greenfeather, an elder who had belonged to MapleClan when Maplestar first joined as a kit, and Crystalfur, who had been Maplestar's adoptive mother.
Her eyes shining with tears, the red-brown she-cat leapt forward. Crystalfur let out a purr of delight at the sight of her. The two cats rubbed noses, unable to express their happiness with words.

Maplestar, Amber. It is a pleasure to see you two in person again. A gray tom, his pelt shining silver made his entrance, yellow eyes gleaming with excitement, and new found wisdom. Wolfpelt was no longer the paranoid, shaky elder he was before his death during the battle, haunted by those who pursued him and fear of others. He stood tall, confidence in every stride. Youthful once again. He felt strongly towards both she-cats, Maplestar, being once his apprentice, and Amber, his niece's best friend.

Amber looked up from her mother, Wolfpelt... she almost awed in amazement. She could remember meeting him when she was no younger than a new warrior.

Blackriver looked curiously at Amber, kindness shining in her loving eyes. She had not known Amber...But they were much alike. Blackriver smiled pleasantly at maplestar. The two were not well aquainted either, but the pain of battle had brought them closer.

Wolfpelt grinned at the she-cat, his tail brushing Amber's flank in a friendly manner. His bright eyes looked into Amber's. "Sure took you long enough. We've been waiting for you to visit. Between you and me, it gets kinda boring after a while...after all, there's never squabbles about territory or clans, no fighting either." The silvery tom winked, letting out a rich mrrow of laughter.

A figure bigger than all the rest stepped up. Dragon. His face was kind and wise and he looked longingly and lovingly at Amber.

With a joyous meow, Maplestar tackled Wolfpelt to the ground, feeling as energetic as a kit again. "Wolfpelt!" she purred, nuzzling his cheek. "It's been too long! You look wonderful!" She grinned at him, pure happiness shining in her blue-green eyes.

Amber was smiling at everyone until she saw him, saw the tom who was beside her mother and gaped, Dragon....no, A single tear dripped down her cheek as she looked as him with big green eyes, What happened?
That is not our meaning now, and now that we are all here, my sweet, Lacie added softly, We may start,
Amber knew what her mother meant. Now; now was the time to find out where she really belonged.

Wolfpelt laughed, gently pushing the Mapleclan leader off. "Slow down kid. First things first, alright? Amber, are you ready to begin?" The tom looked into Amber's eyes, his gaze intense and serious. His posture was majestic and he cleared his voice, preparing himself for the ceremony to come.

Amber gave a glance at Maplestar first, then turned back and nodded.
