" Well if your name is not important, then why is mine? The thing I'm called is not my true name, though what is I do not want to reveal, in short, I was given the cover as Runereader." She meowed solemly. " And you are not the end of Nightmares, for I would have seen you more. You are simply living in your own, forcing yourself to beleive that what you are called does not exist, that you are your own figment of your imagination. I do not know if that is true, it may be, it may be someone elses from all that is known, but even if it isn't all real, you are still drifting to close to actually only being your own Nightmare. Chose wisely, there are only three places to go, Darkness, Light, and Nothing at all. You must chose eventually." She purred.

"Light scourned me long ago, Darkness turned its back. You claim to be wise yet you can not see past the fog, Good and evil are simply illusions" The tom sat, his errie shadow cast on the wall by moonlight "I know who I am, Who I was, but I am no more. A shadow of the past who longs to lurk in death's sweet embrace, only to be turned away"

She chuckled, " I never claimed to be wise, most of us do linger in Nothing. And, in some ways, you may be correct. That there is no good or evil, that someone may be good in one's eyes, yet bad in anothers. This term is similar to what you have said. Why, though, is it you chose to lurk in defeat? I know very little about what has happened with the rouges, only that the one, who the kit exclaimed as Masquerade, used to lead them, but has apparently been beaten by his sister and refused to get well and re-take his place." She meowed, her quiet voice taking on a slightly snake-like tone. She glanced over at the river, then back at the tom, " Death cannot possibly elude you, if you yern for it so badly, escape by jumping in there and drowning. The question is, is that nobility, or cowardice?"

The tom nodded "But can those who are not truly alive die? The rouge known as Masquerade was indeed killed by his sister, but he is no more, flames consumed his body, hatered his soul. One may see a shadow and fear it, but it may do no real harm. It is neather coweradnace nor nobility that keeps me from the river, just as it is neather cowerdance nor nobility that keep the stars shining in the skys far above us"

" What cowardice could those immortal possibly show? Though they seem braver then you, putting themselves out there, why you countinue to skulk in these caves. And as for the shadows... Real harm they can cause, you just don't see it in the ways you should. I do have a question for you; Why the mask? Why choose to wear something as evil as that? It may be my theory only, as I seem to have lots of theories, but you may look into those eyes you made out of mirror shards and be truly horrified. Interpret that yourself."

"The mask is so I may hide my shame, and so when others look into my eyes they see who did this to me. One should fear nothing but ones self, for only ones self can destroy thee. As for cowerdance, that depends on of whom you speak. Shadows are harmless, as I said only ones self can harm one truly" The tom looked away, ashamed to meet Runereaders eyes

" What shame could you possibly hold?" She asked in a slight snarl. "The only shame you should feel is for hiding your face and dening your past, both recent and long ago. If what you say is true, then you were the only one who harmed yourself, and once again no shame would be sensed if you hadn't wanted yourself to feel it. Rid yourself of the shame, if you dare, a simple way would be to say who you truly are, not what you force yourself to beleave." (( Even though he may not, I'm starting to think Masquerade has multipule personalities. ))

((Perhaps...he did originaly, but I started to play him a bit more normaly when he took over the canyon))
The toms eyes blazed feircly, before returning to there calm unreadable state under the skull. Carefully he put his head down and pulled the mask off to reveal a nightmarishface. "So you wish to see why I hide my face? Look upon me and weep" He snarled only one side of his mouth moving. The other side was scared up in a horrible halfgrin. In someplaces he was burned down to the bone, the still the distinnctive split face of Masquerade stared out. "I have seen Sunclans camp, and it holds less horor for me than this world." He laughed bitterly, the sound echoing off the rocks to mingle with the bubbling of the river, the scarring across his face gleamed in the light reflecting for the river. "I am neather dead nor alive, and I wallow inmy torment"

" I see no reason to be frightened, you must simply be foolish. If you hate it here so much, then leave! I see nothing that keeps a cat from being killed. Just as a warrior cannot live with one paw in the two-leg world, he cannot dwell with one in life and one in death. You can't run away from one defeat, Masquerade, the rouges are forming a rebellion against your sister, even the loners are joining it, you could still hand her back the defeat you recieved."

the creature turned away, "Keep your forcked tounge behind your teeth" He snarled, "your lies do not fool me, You are my sisters creature, and you lure me into her waiting claws! Begone from here, this sacered place of death" He was frantic now, his words filled with the same comading tone that he had had before the battle had broken his soul. For an instant the scarred tom was Masquerade again. His mismatched eyes blazed and he barred his teeth. muttering to himself under his breath

Runereader grinned, "I have never met your sister personally, nor do I wish destruction on all innocent cats, clan or rouge, with which your sister is doing. But as you wish; I shall leave, but you still can return and lead your rouges with which are still loyal to you, or stay in hiding and slowly learn that they have all been killed, your choice." She meowed, standing up and walking back in the direction of the cave mouth.
